Accounting Assistant

Our firm, The Winston CPA Group, is looking for an Accounting Assistant. This role will support us with managing email, calendars, data entry, bookkeeping, and kicking off the tax prep process during tax season. The Accounting Assistant is often the first point of contact that clients have with us, therefore it's important that you're organized, attentive to detail, and operate with a sense of urgency.


Your Deliverables & Expectations

  • Represent the firm's brand and spirit in interactions with clients, employees, contractors, and partners

  • Communicate with customers utilizing strong written & verbal skills as well as deep customer empathy

  • Document client interactions in a way that someone who wasn't part of the interaction can understand

  • Onboard and offboard new clients, vendors, and contractors

  • Perform bookkeeping tasks: client invoicing, expense tracking, reconcile accounts, and other firm duties

  • Create SOPs, onboarding processes, and training materials

  • Double check internal and external correspondence for spelling and grammar

  • Research (accounting & tax regulations, competitors, new software & apps)

  • Organize, maintain, and accurately enter customer data in our systems (CRM, accounting, or tax prep software, etc.)

  • Accurate and complete customer data entered in tax returns for credentialed tax expert review

  • Coordinate client meetings and follow-ups as needed

  • Take notes during team meetings


Experience & Requirements

  • Understanding of accounting and tax principles

  • 3-5 years experience in bookkeeping and/or executive assistant duties

  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite, Quickbooks Online, and tax prep software

  • An undisturbed office environment with reliable internet connection

  • Able to get work done despite busy times or minimal supervision

  • Comfortable communicating via email, phone, video

  • Keen attention to detail and sense of urgency

The job description is not all-inclusive and certain activities, duties or responsibilities may be required as needed. These roles will start as part-time and we expect them to grow to full-time as our tax clientele grows. This is a U.S.-based role and can be either 1099 contract or employee. This job can be fully remote.


Compensation: $20-$25 per hour | $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year FT
